In recent years, the fields of pediatric healthcare education have witnessed significant advancements, thanks to the incorporation of simulation games.

These games offer an immersive and interactive platform for healthcare professionals, students, and caregivers to enhance their skills, knowledge, and confidence when it comes to pediatric care.

Laerdal, a leading global provider of healthcare simulation solutions, has been at the forefront of supporting pediatric simulation games as a sponsor from 2018 till today.

By partnering with renowned academic institutions and subject experts, Laerdal helps to ensure that the games are based on evidence-based practices and the latest clinical guidelines. This collaborative approach enhances the credibility and the effectiveness of the simulation games, providing users with reliable and up-to -date educational content.

The 2023 Edition will feature 39 Teams, 33 Italian and 6 foreign teams.

For 3 days the Teams, organized in rounds, will face each other in PALS scenarios, carried out in simulation on SimJunior, validated by the American Academy Pediatric for such educational activity.

An international panel of judges, coming from the AAP/AHA, evaluates the Teams based on technical skills and emergency management expertise.

Pediatric Simulation Games’ goals are:

  • Spreading the PALS AHA guidelines among students in pediatric emergency and urgent Medicine speciality schools
  • Spreading the culture of teamwork through simulation exercises
  • Spreading of the importance of developing appropriate soft skills for emergency management
  • Sharing and comparison among different universities

It is crucial developing realistic pediatric simulation games that replicate real-life clinical scenarios. For this reason, from this year, new training-competition stations will be introduced with the possibility of analysing pediatric patient rhythms thanks to Monitor by Laerdal, Laerdal’s latest product.

Additionally, there will be SimCapture, Laerdal’s platform, offering the possibility of following the simulation in streaming and of debriefing, made more effective by a series of data collected during the simulation recording. Other than that, Laerdal provides a SimLab to multiply the possibilities to students to train in a safe controlled environment.

It is evident that Laerdal’s dedication to pediatric simulation games will continue to shape the future of pediatric healthcare education, ultimately leading to improved patient outcomes and a healthier future for children worldwide.
