FCRB

Fundació Clínic per a la Recerca Biomèdica (FCRB) was created in 1989 to manage and promote the research activities of Hospital Clínic de Barcelona (HCB), one of the best hospitals in Spain, as can be seen in its statutes. In addition, in 1996, Consorci Institut D’Investigacions Biomediques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) was founded as a public research centre dedicated to translational research in the field of biomedicine with the mission of integrating the state of the art basic research and quality clinical research. Both, FCRB and IDIBAPS, are performing the research of HCB. Both institutions are very active in scientific research (e.g. 1,282 indexed original articles in 2018) and their facts and figures guarantee its excellence (e.g. mean impact factor of 6.51 in 2018). FCRB and IDIBAPS have also a strong track record working in European projects and have a dedicated European Projects Office (OPE) and the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office. The OPE managed 34 projects in FP5 (1 as coordinators), 55 projects in FP6 (11 as coordinators), 130 projects in FP7 (29 as coordinators) and is currently managing 78 projects in H2020 (14 as coordinators).

Hospital Clinic of Barcelona is a public, centenary, university hospital. Assistance, research and teaching are our reason for being and they act univocally, within the framework of the Hospital, to achieve excellence. The training of health professionals is essential to ensure safe and quality care, and for that reason, health education is a priority in our institution.
