UNIFG (Project Coordinator)

The University of Foggia (UniFg), founded in 1999, is a young and dynamic University in the Apulia Region (South of Italy).

Its educational offer and didactics is in line with the territorial requirements, by research projects, internationalization, orientation, cultural events and promotion of University activities.

The UniFg is structured in more than six Departments, with three-year degree courses, specialist degrees, Master’s degree courses, an Interdepartmental Research centre. The large number of Master’s courses, research doctorates, and the specialist schools have contributed to turning the University of Foggia into a cultural centre in which young people can acquire professional training that meets the needs expressed by society and the world of work.

The UniFg is represented by two Departments of Medical Area, respectively the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences and the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine. The Departments count more than 26 schools of specialization in the medical and health care area, they activated 7 masters and 9 advanced courses, as well as they have created and managed various PhD schools over the last few years, promoting a marked interdisciplinary approach, capable of intercepting the main research vocations of the different areas of the University of Foggia and integrating them.

The UniFg Departments of Medical Area also promote and support different actions aimed at scientific dissemination, prevention, innovation in the field of health care protection at National and International levels.

The Anesthesia and Intensive care team (coordinated by Prof. Gilda Cinnella), belonging to the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences, is involved in the SAFETY project, both on coordination and management of different important tasks. The team is also responsible for the Advanced Medical Simulation Center “Skill Lab” located in the “Altomare” university campus in Foggia.

The Skill Lab includes a main hall where theoretical courses are held, a simulation room, with its own control room, plus two other rooms, used as student training rooms for learning technical skills or clinical skills. In these rooms there are mannequins suitable for the practice of nursing procedures, as well as more advanced clinical skills relevant to clinical, emergency, and critical care areas.

For this reason, the simulation center will represent a key element for the simulation and training activities foreseen in the SAFETY project.
